From Here to Eternity: The Letter to the Church in Pergamos

The Compromising Church - Pergamos was a large city in the province of Asia Minor, modern day Turkey, and was awash in pagan worship and became the center of cult of Caesar worship. “Of Pergamum an ancient writer said it was ‘given to idolatry more than all Asia.'” “The church at Pergamum was surrounded by a pagan culture, just as we are surrounded by an increasingly godless culture” today. This Sunday, October 28, our lesson will focus on Jesus’s letter to the Church in Pergamos in Revelation, correcting the church in Pergamos for its compromise and calling for the church to repent.
