Welcome to South! We are happy you are worshipping with us today! These sermon notes are there for you to encourage you, and help you follow along with Pastor Scott's message. We are in a series entitled "Exodus: God's Presence and Glory," and we hope that you will be uplifted by all that you experience in our service today!
This Series

Our desire for this study has been that, as we grow in our understanding of the book of Exodus, we would also grow in our understanding of how amazing God is, and therefore want to live for His glory and share His glory with others.
God's Grace is Revealed

Continuing to act as God’s spokesperson, God has a message that he wants Moses to share with the Israelites. That message could be summed up in one word - REMEMBER.

--> What He did to the Egyptians
--> How He bore them up on eagles' wings
--> He He brought them to Himself in a covenant relationship
Our Relationship with Him

The gracious covenantal relationship that God chooses to establish with us today allows us to have a relationship with him in which we are…His treasured possessions - chosen by him to be his sons and daughters - loved and valued by him. His royal priests - given the privilege of having access to God, as well as the privilege of representing and sharing the truth and glory of God with others. A holy nation - sanctified or set apart from the rest of that world, and therefore distinct in our worship and conduct.

God gave grace before expectations (we should do the same). But we sometimes switch it around and 1) We try to earn what can only be received.) 2) Obedience becomes burdensome, instead of joyful. 3) Spiritual pride or despair develop.
God's Holiness was Revealed

God wanted Moses to inform the Israelites that His presence was going to descend there on Mount Sinai in the form of a thick cloud. Preparation was important/vital for God's presence to be experienced. The Israelites responded to this encounter with God, by trembling.

Do we tremble at the thought of God's holiness? We can cultivate an awe for God by 1) Maintaining humility before God. 2) Treating sin seriously. 3) Magnifying your view of God.
