Big Idea #1: Everyone will live in the shadow of the first Adam, but we have a choice to live in the light of the second Adam.
Big Idea #2: How do we walk away from the shadow of Adam and in the light of Jesus?

1) Reject Passivity
1) Reject Passivity
2) Accept Responsibility
Adam’s 3 responsibilities:

- Gen 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Work to Do)

- Gen 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Will to Obey)

- Gen 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Woman to Love)
How did Jesus Accept Responsibility? Did Jesus have similar responsibilities?

Work to do - John 17:4
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.

Will to Obey - John 4:34
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

Woman to love - Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
1) Reject Passivity
2) Accept Responsibility
3) Lead Courageously
Jesus was compelling:

Matthew 4:18-20
While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
He sacrificed and protected: John 10:11-15
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Life giving energy: 1 Corin 15:45
Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
1) Reject Passivity
2) Accept Responsibility
3) Lead Courageously
4) Invest Eternally
Look Up. Look In. Look Out
Look Up - What is the Spirit of God:
- Revealing
- Convicting
- Directing
- Teaching
Look In - Look Inward
- What do I need to own?
- What and who do I need to forgive?
- What do I need to turn away from (confess and repent)?
- What do I need to turn toward?
Look Out - What is your next step toward others? (spouse, kids, family member, employees, boss, neighbor, friend)
- Who do I need to engage?
- Who needs my forgiveness? Encouragement?
- Who can I serve?
- Who needs to experience the hands and feet of Jesus?
- Who needs to hear about Jesus?
