The health of a marriage depends on one thing alone: Our love for God. He can restore, replace, renew and refresh even the most lifeless of covenants.
In God, we know there will be ultimate healing, but how much better not to waste countless years recuperating. How much better to take God’s word and His advice to fullness by not breaking the faith of our youth and not inviting the curse of divorce into our lives.
It is a lie that their divorce will ever be final if there are children involved.
It is a lie that their divorce will ever be final if there are children involved.
To understand how seriously God takes the breaking of the marriage covenant, we do well to look again at what we, as married people, promised in the beginning.
Did you notice a recurring word in that beautiful ceremony? I’ll give you a hint: We almost never use it again after our wedding day has passed.
“covenant”
When the covenant was honored, the consequence was a blessing. When the covenant was broken, the consequence was a curse.
