Big Idea: Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
I. Follow the leader: Judah vs Israel (vv. 12-16)
A. Pick your champions
B. The character of leadership:
1. Good Leaders: Moses, David, Samuel, Paul, Jesus. (cf. James 4:10)
2. Bad Leaders: Most of the Kings, Saul, Herod, priests, today’s false teachers. (cf. Proverbs 16:18)
II. Misdirected (vv. 17-23)
A. Beginning of a long war between Israel and Judah (cf. 2 Samuel 3:1)
B. Blind Pursuits (cf. Philippians 3:19; Hebrews 2:1-3)
III. A Change of Heart (vv. 24-32)
A. The chase continues (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:15)
B. Consequences determined by behaviors
1. “Or do you to know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?” (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9a)
