Whatever we value and treasure most, we will put all of our heart, time, attention and focus on said thing.
Wherever your treasure is… or it could be said whatever or whomever you find value, that determines the desires of your heart.

Why is it important to identify what we value? Identifying what we value shows us where the desires of our heart lie.

Why is my heart important?
The course of your life, the course of your summer, the course of your next school semester can be determined by how well you guard your heart.

Guard means: watch over in order to protect or control.; protect against damage or harm. I like this last definition: a person who keeps watch, especially a soldier or other person formally assigned to protect a person or to control access to a place.

Some of you are expecting your friends to guard your heart or your pastor, parents even. But that’s not what the Bible says here. It does not say:

“Parents, guard your children’s heart above all else, for it determines the course of their life.”“Friends, guard your friend’s heart above all else, for it determines the course of their life.”

IT SAYS “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Being a follower of Jesus takes sacrifice. You may have to sacrifice some things this summer. You may have to say no to some things in order to say yes to some God things.

This can be the best summer you have ever had, if you want that, let me ask you, where is your treasure, what do you value?
