We are continuing the discussion on peace this week. Last week we discussed how peace can mean different things to different people, but most importantly, it is about pursuing the way of Jesus.
It is fair to say that peace is not a prevailing characteristic within our culture. Pastor Jonathan shared several examples of why this might be. What are some examples you have seen of peace and the way of Jesus falling by the wayside?
Taking a stand is important, but it does not give us permission to be combative. Loving a person is far more important. Read John 13:35. What does this verse mean?
Jesus doesn't call his followers to be warriors who fight on his behalf, but servants who love as He loved. How is this truth reflected in the following scriptures?
"Be a peacemaker". As Pastor Jonathan said, this means both bringing and making peace. Read Gal 5:22 and discuss the Fruits of The Holy Spirit. How do they help us to "pioneer pursuing Jesus‘ way"?
Ask yourself one question: what are you known for? Are you a peacemaker or a peace-taker?
Oftentimes, being a peacemaker feels one-sided. Peace is not dependent on an outcome and as Pastor Jonathan reminded us, our job is to keep pursuing the way of Jesus. Read Romans 12:18. In your life right now, what are steps you can take to be a peacemaker?
Take some time and pray for help in being a peacemaker in your own life.
