When we take communion, we are expressing our thankfulness for the gift of God’s grace and forgiveness.
Eucharisteó (yoo-khar-is-teh'-o): give thanks, to properly acknowledge that "God's grace works well," It works for our eternal gain and His glory; to give thanks – literally, "thankful for God's good grace."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to give thanks (eucharisteó) in all circumstances for that is God’s will for us who are in Christ Jesus.
We are called to show gratitude in all things and at all times for God’s grace because it works well.
Not only is communion a remembrance of God’s grace and gratitude for it – it is a proclamation of His grace to others!
We are grateful for God’s grace because we remember where we were before His grace was applied to our lives
The Lord’s Table also signifies provision & abundance that is available to us because we are God’s children.
The communion table reminds us of God’s provision because it reminds us that we are His children.
God’s promise of provision reaches into abundance.
Luke 6 tells us that we should give because when we do it will be given back to us in good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Ephesians 3:20 says God can do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or think.
God’s promise of provision and abundance is not specifically about material items.
The abundance we must pursue is the abundance of His grace.
The elements of communion remind us of all that God gave for us so that grace and life could be provided to us overflowingly.
God uses our neediness to open our eyes to the fulfillment of true and abundant provision.
Don’t allow need to cause you to question your faith – but lean into it.
The Communion table symbolizes the new life we now have in Jesus.
Christ makes us new if we belong to Him.
Romans 8:11 tells us that the same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies.
The life God gives us is more fulfilled, more peaceful, more joyous than anything the world has to offer.
God wants to bring newness in us – but we have to let go of the past
Communion of a celebration of new life because we are taking Christ’s life into us.
We must take His life – and death – into ourselves in order to be renewed by that life.
The Lord’s Table represents unity because it unites us with one another. But it can only do that because it also brings unity between us and the Father.
Paul addressed unity with every church he wrote to.
Corinth – there would be no divisions among us (1 Corinthians 1:10)
Ephesus – make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:3)
Galatia – no distinction that separates us in the kingdom of God (Galatians 3:28)
Philippi – be like minded, having the same love, being united in Spirit (Phil. 2:2)
Rome – do what leads to peace and mutual edification (Romans 14:9)
Colossae – bear with one another – be bound in perfect unity (Colossians 3:13-14)
Jesus Himself said that a house divided cannot stand. And the converse statement is true – a house united in Him will not be overcome.
The communion table reminds us that true unity is only found in Jesus.
And true unity is what He wants for us.
Jesus prayed to God that we would be one as He and the Father are one.
Only Jesus makes us fit together perfectly. He is the only one who can bring unity.
Communion reminds us that because of the sacrifice of Christ there is peace between us and God. There is no more conflict between us because our sin has been washed away.
The peace God provides is HIS perfect peace.
Are you in a place of gratitude?
Have you received the abundance of God’s grace?
Do you have Christ’s life in you?
Are you united with Him?
Are you united in your family – or in the church?
Are you walking in His peace?
Have you received the abundance of God’s grace?
Do you have Christ’s life in you?
Are you united with Him?
Are you united in your family – or in the church?
Are you walking in His peace?

Scripture tells us that the things we spend our money on reveal what is in our heart (Matthew 6:21). We believe that cheerful and sacrificial giving of our finances to the work of the local church is one of the deepest expressions of worship that we can offer and shows that we truly want to love as Jesus loved.
