The physical effects of The Fall:
- Frustration
- Bondage
- Decay
- Groaning
- Pain

The spiritual effects of The Fall:
· We are all guilty before God (Rom. 5:12)
· We are all condemned by God (Rom. 5:18)
· We are all enslaved to our sinful nature (Rom. 3:10-12)
· We all deserve infinite punishment from God (Matt. 25:41,46)

Covenant = a solemn commitment to keep promises.

God’s Covenant Promises

The Promise of Rescue:
God promises an offspring to crush Satan’s head. (see Genesis 3:15)

Noahic Covenant:
God promises to show us GRACE, and not treat us how our sins deserve. (see Genesis 6:7-8, 8:21)

Abrahamic Covenant:
God promises LAND, a great NATION from His offspring, a great NAME and reputation, and a BLESSING that will bless every nation on earth – FOREVER! (see Genesis 12:1-3, 17:7)

Mosaic Covenant:
God promises ATONEMENT for sin and a PROPHET who will bring God’s message. (see Leviticus 17:11, Deut. 18:18)

Davidic Covenant:
God promises His SON as an eternal KING who will bring protection from enemies, prosperity and blessing, and the presence of God to dwell with His people. (see 2 Samuel 7:8-13)

New Covenant:
God promises to CLEANSE us from sin, give us a new HEART, and put His SPIRIT within us. (see Ezekiel 36:16-28)

1. Abraham is CALLED OUT!
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house…” (Genesis 12:1)

2. Abraham is CALLED IN!
“Go…to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)

Promises of the Abrahamic Covenant:
1. I will give this land
2. I will make of you a great nation
3. I will bless you
4. I will make your name great
5. You will be a blessing
6. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse
7. In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed

3. Abraham comes in by FAITH ALONE!
So Abram went, as the LORD had told him… (Genesis 12:4).

Big Idea:
We are CALLED OUT and CALLED IN in to be BLESSED through Abraham.
