Sailing through the Storms of Life - Part 3 - The Wind, The Waves, The Word
Sundays in May at Valley Chapel AG... ŜĂĨĹĨŇĜ ŤĤŘÕŨĜĤ ŤĤÊ ŜŤÕŘMŜ ÕҒ ĹĨҒÊ We are surely living in perilous times. In spite of the experience you have acquired throughout the years, perhaps like so many others, it seems as though you have been caught completely off guard by many of the crisis situations you have been facing. You thought you were prepared to handle anything, but now, your world has been rocked, and you appear headed toward a shipwreck. You need to know that you aren't alone! One of my favorite passages in the Bible is found in Matthew 8:23-27, where we find Jesus' twelve disciples, in a boat out in the Sea of Galilee. These men, most of whom were highly experienced fishermen, quite familiar with sailing, and specifically with that body of water, find themselves caught in a furious storm. Even though they new the ways of these waters, they became so overwhelmed, they believed they were going to perish. Have you ever been there? Have you ever been overwhelmed, even unexpectedly so, and thought you had reached the end? Shipwreck and disaster seemed like a certainty. Are you there now? Through the month of May, we will be sharing a very critical and timely series of messages, designed to help every one of us make it successfully through these difficult times. Even if you are in calm waters today, you won't want to miss this series, because the stormy seas are sure to come… maybe just ahead! Here's our schedule: May 7th - The Struggle in the Storm May 14th - When Fear Replaces Faith May 21st - The Wind, The Waves, The Word May 28th - The Man and The Master You won’t want to miss a single one of these life-changing messages! Together, we will successfully navigate the storms of life! Valley Chapel AG 300 Valley Road Clifton, NJ 07013 (973) 278-0953 http://www.vcag.org/sailing-through-the-storms-of-life/

As we go about our daily routine, there are many things that seem to be constantly crying for our attention. And to successfully navigate our daily routine, we must pay attention to these things, and give them the proper attention they deserve. If we are not careful in this way, then even things that have been working in our favor can quickly turn and be used to our harm!
Such is the case in Matthew 8:23-27, where we find the disciples in their boat, out in the middle of the Sea of Galilee. Fishermen by trade, they would be very familiar with the environs of the sea, and in fact were out in their own fishing boat. This was a sailboat, so they would have been used to using the wind in their favor, to power their boat. However, quite quickly the wind, which had been harnessed for their good, became an element of potential destruction.
As the disciples sailed on the water, what had been calm glassy seas were quickly churned up into wild waves, crashing over the top of their once-safe vessel. The water changed from being the method of their transportation into the means of potential destruction.
In each of our lives there is “wind” and there is “water.” But, like the disciples, we must learn to tune out the sounds of the wind and the water, and begin to listen to a third ever-present sound - His Word.
This Sunday at Valley Chapel, we will share the third message in our “Sailing Through the Storms of Life” series – “The Wind, The Waves and The Word.” This message, and this whole series, can change your life’s course of direction! Don't miss it!

In our own life, there are three similar things that are constantly screaming for attention. We can rarely escape the bombardment of these things as they seemingly continue to rush at us every moment of every day.
- the winds of doctrine
- the winds of deceit
- the winds of doubt
- avoid shallow water
- don't go upwind in big waves
- use land as a natural breakwater
- turn into the wave
- pay attention
- watch the weather reports
- He speaks to the difficulty
- He speaks to the disciples

Wednesdays at 7 pm - "WHAT WE BELIEVE!" - This week - "The Baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit "

At Valley Chapel, we want to GROW – truly grow! But, what does it mean to grow? True growth isn’t simply getting bigger! Much more than getting bigger is becoming more like Christ. In Ephesians 4:15, we read “…speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.” We want our church to GROW in maturity to match the head – Jesus Christ. Our mission statement is built around the acronym G.R.O.W....
