Loveland Heights Church of Christ

The Commands of Christ: #34 Be Born Again!
The keeping of Christ's commands means to keep ALL of His commands. Not just some. If we keep His commands, we show our love for Him. This command, "Be Born Again," is essential to our salvation. It's not a public symbol, it's not a "work," it's a command for obedience. It's our opportunity to be added to the church, to receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

1 Peter 3:21 with the parenthetical statements removed: "Baptism now saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
Have you been baptized (immersed)? If so, consider these questions...
- Did you believe at the time of baptism that Jesus is the Son of God?
- Did you understand that baptism marked a change in lifestyle (i.e. dying to self, turning away from a life of sin, repentance)?
- Did you understand/believe that in this act God would forgive your sins?

Some translations omit v. 37 of Acts 8. It reads:
And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may."

Have you NOT been baptized (immersed)? Please consider these points...
- Did you or someone else make the decision to be "baptized"?
- Were you able to/did you repent of sin before being "baptized"?
- Were you immersed, thus emulating the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus?
