30 Days of Scriptures for Mental Health StrugglesSample

Day 1: Peace is Possible
In 2019 and 2020, I went through my own challenges with my mental health. I had manic episodes and experienced depression multiple times. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and it was honestly the darkest time of my life, yet the most pivotal.
I say “pivotal” because I recognized that I had to cling to God’s Word like never before. Therefore, each day, and still to this day, I read the Bible—whether it’s a single verse or a full-on study.
This devotional is based on the list of scriptures I made in the note section of my phone to encourage me during my struggles, and I want to share them with you. I know it’s nothing but God that I stand here today, 5 years without manic or depressive episodes.
At the start of my mental health challenges, it was easy to think that the chance of me living a stable life with peace in my mind was impossible. But Matthew 19:26 NIV says differently, “Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”
How affirming to know that what we think is impossible, Jesus has declared that all things are possible!
Let that be your encouragement for today. It’s possible to be free of anxiety, depression, manic episodes, PTSD, and any mental illness. With God, all things are possible! Have faith and believe.
Prayer point:
Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for creating me and blessing me with your Word that says all things are possible with you! I pray and ask that you bless me to experience freedom from the mental health struggles I’m dealing with. Please help me cling to you for stability and ultimate healing. Guide me each day and protect my mind from the schemes of the enemy. May I testify of your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
