House of David, Season 2: Trusting God in the Middle of the StorySample

God Knows You
There’s something both terrifying and tender about being fully known. Terrifying, because we often think if people saw every thought, every insecurity, every motive, would they still love us? Tender, because deep down, what we crave is exactly that, to be fully known and still fully loved.
David writes, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me.” God isn’t skimming the surface of your life. He knows you—your triggers, your tears, your trials. Your victories and your vices. Your doubts and your dreams. He knows the lies you believe about yourself and the lies you tell others to cover them up.
God knows everything about David, and yet David doesn’t pull back. He says this knowledge is “too wonderful.” Why? Because God knows it all and still chooses David. He still calls him. He still pursues him. God knowing everything isn’t a weapon to condemn you. It’s a well of assurance. He knows you completely, which means nothing in you can surprise Him.
The One who knows you best loves you most. And that’s the foundation of freedom. You don’t have to perform to be accepted or hide to be loved. You can rest in the reality that God sees you—all of you—and He isn’t walking away.
Reflection Question: Do you live like God’s complete knowledge of you is a threat, or a comfort?
