House of David, Season 2: Trusting God in the Middle of the StorySample

Hiding Place
David writes, “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” Hiding may sound like weakness, but in God, it’s wisdom.
We all hide somewhere. Some hide in success, hoping achievement will insulate them. Some hide in substances, numbing pain. Some hide in shame, withdrawing from others. But David discovered a better hiding place: God’s presence.
Strength isn’t the absence of hiding, it’s hiding in the right place. Because in His presence there is joy. And the joy of the Lord is your strength. When you hide in Him, you don’t emerge weaker. You emerge singing. That’s why David, the warrior-king, was also a worshipper. His hiding place became his fueling place.
You don’t get stronger by flexing harder. You get stronger by abiding deeper. God’s presence doesn’t just protect you. It renews you, fills you, and redefines you.
Reflection Question: Where have you been hiding lately, and what would it look like to make God your true hiding place?
