HZY | BRP Week 2 - Who Is God?Sample

Why The Cross?
The cross is where God Himself, in the person of Jesus, took our place of punishment and shame. The crucifixion of Jesus was God accepting the curse for sin in our place and giving us His perfection and holiness.
When we receive Him as our Saviour, we are justified by His grace and reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, and given eternal life with Him forever. God is calling all humanity back into relationship with Him through Jesus. Because God in the person of Jesus is the only worthy substitute, it is only His death that can substitute for ours.
Think of it like this, you are in court and you are sentenced to life in jail, but then someone walks into the court and offers to take your place, take on the weight of your punishment so that you can walk free. You then walk out completely free. You did nothing to deserve it, but it was offered to you as a gift. All you need to do it is to accept and receive that gift. This is what Jesus did for us. This is what the Bible calls grace & mercy. Grace is a gift offered to us that we don’t deserve, and mercy is not getting what we do deserve.
