HZY | BRP Week 2 - Who Is God?Sample

The Fall
The Fall is how we describe the choice that Adam and Eve made using their free will, consciously choosing to place themselves in the position of God. They determined right from wrong, good from evil for themselves, rather than trusting in God's guidance.
It is at this moment that guilt enters the human heart.
Through this choice, humanity deviates from God’s intended plan, and humanity steps away from God, the source of all life. Throughout Genesis 1-11 we see that humanity was tempted by evil, making choices to use their free will to rebel against God. It is a pattern we see repeated throughout the entire Old Testament story of Israel. It is also repeated in our own lives. We are all responsible for the choice we make to try to live independently of God.
The result of that first choice to sin resulted in shame, guilt and separation from God, who had lovingly and purposefully created them. The enemy successfully separated Adam and Eve from God, and from that moment has continued to try to separate all of us from God. The fall shows us how sin became an issue for all people, but God had a plan to deal with that - Jesus.
DAILY RECAP:
1. What stands out to you most in the verses provided?
2. Sin created a need for God to intervene in our lives. What does it mean to you to know that God didn’t give up on us but had a plan to rescue us?
About this Plan

Jesus is both fully God and fully man. To help us understand this, we need to further our knowledge of who God is. This week, we’ll dive into what God’s nature and character are like, and explore how Jesus’ death & resurrection changed things for us forever. If you have any questions as you go through this week's plan, please reach out to one of your leaders.
