God Is Three In One

As well as God being the Creator of the world and eternal, God is also three in one: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Choosing to follow Jesus is actually a three-in-one decision. You might have heard people talk about the Trinity, which is a human term we use to try to explain our supernatural God.

The Bible clearly shows us that God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit work together as one throughout the Old and New Testaments. For example, in the first two sentences of Genesis, we see the Holy Spirit was present with the Father from the beginning of Creation. Later, in John 1, we are shown that Jesus (the Word) was with the Father before creation, and that He Himself is also God - that through Him all things were created, meaning that Jesus isn’t a created being, but He too is the Creator.

It’s a lot to take in, but here’s the bottom line: Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit are ONE. It is not easy to comprehend but Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are three distinct persons operating in complete and total oneness. Not three gods but ONE God comprising three equal and distinct persons with clear roles in helping us connect with the Father and discover what it means to be a child of God. So the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all reveal something to us of God’s nature and character.
