There are those in our society who love to stir up negativity and anger. They encourage us to focus on all the ways we are different and the areas where we disagree - especially in an election year. Social media easily provides a safe distance to fire a shot across the bow of our opponents—a quippy, but foul, meme here, an attacking response to a post there.
But Jesus calls us to something better. When he walked the earth and died to save us, he set the example of loving everyone—even those who are different or disagree. This election cycle, let’s set aside the temptation to engage in the battle. Instead of sitting on one side of the aisle or the other, step into the aisle and show the love of Jesus to those on both sides.
