Through the Bible: Ezekiel

DAY 1 OF 17

## Make God's Word Personal > Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. > Ezekiel, 3:17 (ESV) God tells Ezekiel, “Son of man, I have made you to be a watchman for the house of Israel. So, hear the word I speak.” Therefore, Ezekiel begins to listen just as you and I listen daily for God to lead us. In Ezekiel 2:9 and 3:2, the Lord hands Ezekiel a scroll and tells him to ‘eat it’. This was a symbolic act. God said to Ezekiel, “Eat this scroll and fill your stomach with it, then…speak…” Here God is telling us that God’s messenger must first appropriate God’s word. We must first personalise God’s word by applying it to our own life before we have the right to speak it to others. We can be so quick to give advice and tell others what they ought to do, before we talk about it with our Father and seek His wisdom. As the sons and daughters of God who are led by His Spirit we must in the words of Romans 8:14 believe that “The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them.” ### Prayer Father, we are Yours, called by Your name. We look to You to show us the way to go. We pray for our neighbours, our city, and we listen for Your words, Your wisdom. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
