## This Everlasting Covenant > For thus says the Lord God: I will deal with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant, yet I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish for you an everlasting covenant. > Ezekiel 16: 62-63 (ESV) The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. God’s Sovereignty is seen over all. We see how the Lord’s attention was turned lovingly towards Israel seeing their neediness, speaking life to her, nurturing and protecting her, entering into a covenantal relationship with her. However, as she flourished, pride clouded her heart, leading to disobedience and grave wickedness, blinding and selling themselves to the pleasures of this world. They had forsaken their first love, this covenantal relationship with God. God’s rightful judgement burned against them. But in the midst of this, Ezekiel speaks of the heart of mercy and compassion of the Lord that will restore them, bringing eternal salvation through Christ Jesus, our everlasting covenant. In the midst of the seemingly unredeemable circumstances in life, we are reminded of His unconditional love that truly humbles us. We come surrendering all to Christ who is our hope, the Light in the midst of darkness. He assures us that nothing can separate us from this everlasting covenant of love. ### Prayer Abba Father, forgive us for our wayward hearts at times. Help us never to take You for granted, but through Christ, may we live surrendered lives filled with Your Kingdom glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
