Cooking Up Confidence (Week One)Sample

Day Six - The Lord’s Prayer
Yesterday we looked at the Lord's Prayer, we will continue to look at this today and dig a bit deeper into what this prayer teaches us and how we can use it to help us pray.
READ:
Let's look at the Lord’s Prayer again. Find Matthew 6:9-13 in your paper Bible.
Look at verse 11. It says "Give us today our daily bread".
God is our provider and gives us all that we need, in this verse we are encouraged to continue to ask God to provide us with the things that we need to live the life that He has given us.
In our story - Hannah’s Prayer - we see that Hannah spent time praying and asking God for a baby boy and God answered Hannah’s prayer and provided her with what she asked for and also helped Hannah to be brave and give Samuel back to God.
Look at verse 12 of the Lord's Prayer. It says "And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors."
In this verse, the word ‘debt’ means ‘sin’ (all the wrong things we do).
As humans we sin, we do things that are wrong, but here we are encouraged to be honest with God and ask for forgiveness daily. God loves us and will always forgive us, but He wants us to talk to Him about everything, the good and the not-so-good.
Also, other people may do things that are wrong and upset us? We can ask God to help us forgive others too. We know that God forgives us always, so then as we try to live our lives how God wants us to, we can forgive others, just like God forgives us.
ASK:
How will you ask God to provide for you today?
Is there something you need to ask God to forgive you for?
Is there someone you need to forgive today? Maybe ask your grown-up to help you pray the Lord’s Prayer but then spend some time praying together about all you have learned today.
REMEMBER:
Open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your teachings. (Psalm 119:18)
SAY:
I believe that the Bible has the greatest news,
That you gave to help us find our way.
Your word can be shared with anyone, anywhere!
We trust what your word says.
You can use my words to share your message
You are with me everywhere.
In Jesus' name - Amen.
