Day Two - Being Honest with God

Today we are going to be looking at how we can be honest with God. We will see in the story that Hannah was very honest with God about how much she really wanted to have a baby son.  This was no surprise to God.  God heard every prayer that Hannah said and He knew the plan that He had for Hannah and her family. 

READ:

‘Hannah’s Prayer’ in any Children’s Bible or 1 Samuel 1:3-19.

Remember we learned yesterday about how much Hannah had wanted a baby son and how she had been waiting a long time for this to happen. 

Hannah wept as she prayed - not having a baby son made Hannah very sad. 

Let's look at Hannah’s prayer again: 

“Lord of heaven’s armies, see how bad I feel. Remember me! Don’t forget me. If you will give me a son, I will give him back to you all his life."

See how honest Hannah is with God - she tells Him that she feels so bad and asks Him not to forget her.  

ASK:

Did you know God wants us to always be honest with Him when we pray?

We don’t need to worry about how or what we say to God because He already knows what’s in our hearts.  He loves us so much He always wants to hear our prayers, no matter what that is.  We don’t have to have it all figured out before we pray. 

God hears every prayer, we don’t need to worry about what they sound like. 

REMEMBER:

Open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your teachings. (Psalm 119:18)

SAY:

I believe that the Bible has the greatest news,

That you gave to help us find our way. 

Your word can be shared with anyone, anywhere! 

We trust what your word says.
