The Way to the Father

Jesus Reveals the Father

Praying in Jesus’ Name

Another Counselor Promised

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
19“In a little while the world will see Me no longer, # Jn 7:33 but you will see Me. # Jn 16:16 Because I live, you will live # Php 1:21 too. 20In that day you will know that I am in My Father, # Jn 14:10 you are in Me, and I am in you. 21The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. # Jn 8:31; 1Jn 2:5 And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. # Dt 7:12-13; Jn 16:27 I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”

23Jesus answered, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. # Jn 14:2; 1Jn 2:24 24The one who doesn’t love Me will not keep My words. The word that you hear is not Mine but is from the Father who sent Me. # Jn 5:19; 7:16; 8:28; 12:49-50
25“I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit # Ps 51:11; Jn 1:33; Ac 2:4; Rm 8:9; Gl 5:25; Ti 3:5; Rv 3:22 — the Father will send # Lk 24:49; Jn 14:16; 15:26; 16:7; Ac 2:33 Him in My name — will teach you all things # Jn 16:13; 1Co 2:10; 1Jn 2:27 and remind you of everything I have told you. # Jn 2:22; 2Pt 1:21
Jesus’ Gift of Peace
27“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful. # 2Tm 1:7 28You have heard Me tell you, ‘I am going away # Jn 16:5 and I am coming to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to the Father, # Jn 16:10 because the Father is greater than I. # Jn 10:29; 1Jn 3:20; 4:4 29I have told you now before it happens # Jn 13:19; 16:4 so that when it does happen you may believe. 30I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of the world # Mt 4:1; Jn 12:31 is coming. He has no power over Me. # Lit He has nothing in Me # Lk 4:6 31On the contrary, I am going away # Probably refers to the cross so that the world may know that I love the Father. Just as the Father commanded Me, so I do.
