A Vision of Joshua the High Priest
1Then he showed me #ch. 6:11; See Ezra 3:2 Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and #[1 Chr. 21:1; Ps. 109:6]Satan#3:1 Hebrew the Accuser or the Adversary standing at his right hand to accuse him. 2And the Lord said to Satan, #Jude 9 “The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has #ch. 1:17; [Rom. 8:33] chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this #Amos 4:11a brand#3:2 That is, a burning stick plucked from the fire?” 3Now #[See ver. 1 above] Joshua was standing before the angel, #[Isa. 64:6; Jude 23]clothed with filthy garments. 4And the angel said to #[ver. 7; Luke 1:19] those who were standing before him, #Rev. 7:14 “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, #[ver. 9; Isa. 6:7] I have taken your iniquity away from you, and #Isa. 61:10; Luke 15:22; Rev. 19:8I will clothe you with pure vestments.” 5And I said, #Job 29:14; [ch. 6:11]“Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.
6And the angel of the Lord solemnly assured #[See ver. 1 above]Joshua, 7“Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and #Gen. 26:5; Mal. 3:14; See Lev. 8:35 keep my charge, then you shall #[Deut. 17:9; Mal. 2:7] rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among #[ver. 4]those who are standing here. 8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for #[Ezek. 12:11] they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring #See Isa. 42:1 my servant #ch. 6:12; Isa. 11:1; See Jer. 23:5the Branch. 9For behold, on #Ps. 118:22; Isa. 28:16; [ch. 4:7]; See Ezra 3:9-11 the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with #ch. 4:10; Rev. 5:6 seven eyes,#3:9 Or facets I will #[2 Tim. 2:19] engrave its inscription, declares the Lord of hosts, and #[ver. 4]I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day. 10In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come #See 1 Kgs. 4:25under his vine and under his fig tree.”
