Psalm 138

138
Give Thanks to the Lord
Of David.
1 # Ps. 111:1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
before #Ps. 95:3; 96:5the gods I sing your praise;
2I bow down #Ps. 28:2; 1 Kgs. 8:29 toward your #Ps. 5:7holy temple
and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.#138:2 Or you have exalted your word above all your name
3On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you increased.#138:3 Hebrew you made me bold in my soul with strength
4 # See Ps. 102:15 All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord,
for they have heard the words of your mouth,
5and they shall sing of #Ps. 103:7the ways of the Lord,
for great is the glory of the Lord.
6 # [Ps. 131:1; Prov. 3:34; Luke 1:48; James 4:6]; See Ps. 113:5, 6 For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly,
but the haughty he knows from afar.
7 # [Ps. 23:4] Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you #See Ps. 71:20 preserve my life;
you #[1 Sam. 24:6; Job 1:12] stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your #Ps. 60:5right hand delivers me.
8The Lord will #Ps. 57:2; [Phil. 1:6] fulfill his purpose for me;
# Ps. 136:1; See 1 Chr. 16:41 your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake #See Ps. 100:3the work of your hands.
