2Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the #1 Chr. 27:1commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to all the leaders in all Israel, the heads of fathers’ houses. 3And Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to #See 1 Kgs. 3:4 the high place that was at Gibeon, #1 Chr. 16:39; 21:29 for #Ex. 29:10; Lev. 10:7; Num. 14:10the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness, was there. 4#See 2 Sam. 6:2-17; 1 Chr. 15:25–16:1(But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.) 5Moreover, #Ex. 27:1, 2; 38:1, 2 the bronze altar that #Ex. 31:2 Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. And Solomon and the assembly #[1 Chr. 13:3]sought it#1:5 Or him out. 6And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the Lord, which was at the tent of meeting, #1 Kgs. 3:4and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.
Solomon Prays for Wisdom
7 # For ver. 7-12, see 1 Kgs. 3:5-14 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” 8And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, #1 Chr. 28:5and have made me king in his place. 9O Lord God, #ch. 6:17; 1 Kgs. 8:26 let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous #Gen. 13:16as the dust of the earth. 10Give me now wisdom and knowledge to #[Num. 27:17; Deut. 31:2]go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” 11God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for #Eccles. 5:19; 6:2possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you #[See ver. 11 above] riches, possessions, and honor, #ch. 9:22; [1 Chr. 29:25]such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.” 13So Solomon came from#1:13 Septuagint, Vulgate; Hebrew to the #See 1 Kgs. 3:4 high place at Gibeon, from before #ver. 3the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem. And he reigned over Israel.
Solomon Given Wealth
14 # For ver. 14-17, see ch. 9:25-28; 1 Kgs. 10:26-29 Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. #[1 Kgs. 4:26] He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed #[1 Kgs. 9:19]in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15And the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah. 16And Solomon’s import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king’s traders would buy them from Kue for a price. 17They imported a chariot from Egypt for 600 shekels#1:17 A shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams of silver, and a horse for 150. Likewise through them these were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.

2 Paralipomenon 1
1
1And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom: and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him to a high degree.
2And Solomon gave orders to all Israel, to the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and to the rulers, and to the judges of all Israel, and the heads of the families.
3And he went with all the multitude to the high place of Gabaon, where was the tabernacle of the covenant of the Lord, which Moses the servant of God made, in the wilderness.
4For David had brought the ark of God from Cariathiarim to the place, which he had prepared for it, and where he had pitched a tabernacle for it; that is, in Jerusalem.
5And the altar of brass, which Beseleel the son of Uri the son of Hur had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. And Solomon and all the assembly sought it.
6And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar, before the tabernacle of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up on it a thousand victims.
7And, behold, that night God appeared to him, saying: Ask what thou wilt that I should give thee.
8And Solomon said to God: Thou hast shewn great kindness to my father David: and hast made me king in his stead.
9Now therefore, O Lord God, let thy word be fulfilled, which thou hast promised to David my father: for thou hast made me king over thy great people, which is as innumerable as the dust of the earth.
10Give me wisdom and knowledge that I may come in and go out before thy people: for who can worthily judge this thy people, which is so great?
11And God said to Solomon: Because this choice hath pleased thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, and wealth, and glory, nor the lives of them that hate thee, nor many days of life: but hast asked wisdom and knowledge, to be able to judge my people, over which I have made thee king,
12Wisdom and knowledge are granted to thee: and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and glory, so that none of the kings before thee, nor after thee, shall be like thee.
13Then Solomon came from the high place of Gabaon to Jerusalem before the tabernacle of the covenant, and reigned over Israel.
14And he gathered to himself chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he placed them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.
15And the king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar-trees as sycamores, which grow in the plains in great multitude.
16And there were horses brought him from Egypt, and from Coa by the king's merchants, who went, and bought at a price,
17A chariot of four horses for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. In like manner, market was made in all the kingdoms of the Hethites, and of the kings of Syria.
