Revelation 22

The River of Life

1 The angel showed me the river of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb.

2 It runs through the center of the city. On both sides stand the tree of life, producing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. Its leaves bring healing to the nations.

3 There will no longer be any curse, and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will serve Him.

4 They will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads, marking them as His own.

5 There will be no night. They will need no lamp or sunlight, because God Himself will give them light, and they will reign forever.

John and the Angel

6 The angel said, “These words are reliable and true. The Lord, the God who inspires and speaks through the prophets, sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”

7 “Look, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

8 I, John, heard and saw these things. Overwhelmed, I fell down to worship the angel who had been showing them to me.

9 He said to me, “Do not do that. I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this book. Direct your worship to God alone.”

10 Then he told me, “Do not keep the words of this prophecy hidden, because the time for their fulfillment is near.

11 Let those who persist in wrongdoing continue in it; let those who remain morally defiled remain so. Likewise, let those who are righteous continue to live rightly, and let those who are holy continue in holiness.”

12 “Pay attention—I am coming soon, and I bring with Me what each person is due, repaying everyone according to what they have done.

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end—the first and the last, the origin and the goal of all things.”

14 Blessed are those who have been cleansed, for they are granted access to the tree of life and are allowed to enter the city through its gates.

15 Outside remain the dogs and those who practice occult arts, sexual immorality, murder, idolatry, and everyone who loves and lives by falsehood.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you about these matters for the sake of the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the radiant Morning Star.”

17 The Spirit and the bride extend the invitation, saying, “Come.” Let anyone who hears respond to that call. Let the one who is thirsty come forward; whoever desires may freely receive the water that gives life.

18 I solemnly warn everyone who hears the words of this prophetic book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the judgments described here.

19 And if anyone removes anything from the words of this prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city described in this book.

20 The One who testifies to these things declares, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with all God’s people. Amen.
