Revelation 12

12
The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon
1 A striking vision appeared in heaven: A woman clothed in radiant light like the sun, standing upon the moon, and crowned with twelve stars.
2 She was pregnant and cried out in the agony of labor.
3 Another sign appeared: A massive red dragon, terrifying in appearance, with seven heads and ten horns, each head crowned.
4 With a sweep of his tail he hurled a third of the stars from the sky down to the earth. He stationed himself before the woman, waiting to devour her Child as soon as He was born.
5 She gave birth to a Son—a male Child—destined to rule the nations with unbreakable authority. But the Child was caught up to God and to His throne.
6 The woman fled into the wilderness, to a place God had prepared, where she would be sustained for 1,260 days.
Satan and His Angels Cast Out of Heaven
7 A war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels resisted,
8 but they were overpowered and expelled; there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
9 The great dragon—the ancient serpent known as the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—was cast down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
10 Then a loud declaration resounded in heaven: “Now salvation, power, and the kingdom of our God have been established, and the authority of His Christ is revealed. The accuser of our brothers and sisters has been cast down—the one who constantly accused them before God.
11 They overcame him through the blood of the Lamb and through their faithful testimony; they did not cling to life, even in the face of death.
12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens! But disaster looms over the earth and sea, for the devil has come down in fury, aware that his time is limited.”
Satan Pursues the Woman and Engages in War with Her Children
13 Realizing he had been cast to earth, the dragon pursued the woman who had given birth to the male Child.
14 But she was given the two wings of the great eagle to escape swiftly into the wilderness, where she was sustained for a time, and times, and half a time, beyond the serpent’s reach.
15 The serpent spewed out a torrent like a river to sweep her away,
16 but the earth intervened, swallowing the flood and rescuing her.
17 Enraged, the dragon turned to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who remain obedient to God and loyal to the testimony of Jesus.
18 And he stood on the sand of the seashore.
