Paul’s Appeal for Prayer
1 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, so that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was among you,
2 and that we may be rescued from corrupt and wicked people, for faith is not possessed by everyone.
3 But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are practicing and will continue to practice the things we instruct you to do.
Pauline Prayer
5 May the Lord guide your hearts into the love of God and into steadfast endurance shaped by Christ.
Warning Against Idleness
6 Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother who lives in a disorderly manner and not in accordance with the teaching they received from us.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not live irresponsibly while we were among you,
8 nor did we accept food from anyone without payment, but with exhausting labor we worked day and night, so that we would not place a burden on any of you.
9 This was not because we lacked the right to such support, but in order to present ourselves as a pattern for you to imitate.
10 Even while we were with you, we repeatedly gave this instruction: If anyone is unwilling to work, that person should not eat.
11 For we hear that some among you are living irresponsibly, not working at all, but interfering in matters that do not concern them.
12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and earn the food they themselves eat.
13 But you, brothers and sisters, do not lose heart in doing what is good.
14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person and do not associate closely with him, so that he may feel the seriousness of his conduct.
15 Yet do not treat him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
Pauline Prayer
16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you peace at all times and in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all.

17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand, which serves as a mark of authenticity in every letter. This is how I write.
18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
