Galatians 6
6
Bearing One Another’s Burdens
1 Brothers, even if a man* is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual should restore such a person in a spirit of humility; watching yourself, lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks that he is something when he is nothing, he is deceiving himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in someone else. 5 For each one will carry his own load.
Sowing to the Spirit
6 Now let the one who is taught the word share in all good things with the one who teaches. 7 Do not be misled: God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap, 8 because the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and particularly to those who are of the household of faith.
The Superiority of the New Creation Over Circumcision and Uncircumcision
11 See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand! 12 All who want to make a good impression in the flesh—these are compelling you to be circumcised—only so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.* 13 For not even those who are circumcised keep the Law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. 14 But may it be far from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 And all those who align themselves with this principle, peace and mercy be upon them and upon the Israel of God.
Conclusion and Benediction
17 From now on, let no one bring troubles upon me, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.*
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
Notes
1 Or person, as the term is generically understood. So also v. 7
12 Three ancient Greek manuscripts insert the name Jesus at this point
17 Various ancient manuscripts offer divergent readings: some read Christ; others Lord Jesus, and some our Lord Jesus Christ. Additionally, one ancient Greek manuscript reads my Lord Jesus
