Galatians 1

1
Apostolic Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, the One who raised Him from the dead— 2 and all the brothers with me,
To the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace to you, and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 the One who gave Himself for our sins, so that He might rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be the glory forever and ever.* Amen.
Apostatising to a Different 'Gospel'
6 I marvel that you are so quickly turning away from the One who called you by the grace of Christ* to a different gospel, 7 which is not really* another, except there are some who are troubling you and wanting to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach a gospel to you contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed! 9 As we have said before, and now I say again: If anyone is preaching a gospel to you contrary to what you accepted, let him be accursed!
10 For am I now seeking the approval of men,* or of God? Or am I seeking to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Paul’s Calling
11 For I make known to you, brothers, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it* through a revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard about my former course of life in Judaism, that to an extreme degree I was persecuting the church of God and was working to destroy it. 14 And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my* contemporaries in my nation, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions handed down by my forefathers. 15 But when it pleased God,* the One who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace,* 16 to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not at once consult with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I departed for Arabia and returned again to Damascus.
18 Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and I remained with him for fifteen days. 19 But I saw none of the apostles except James, the brother of the Lord. 20 (Now in what I am writing to you—behold, I testify* before God that I am not lying.) 21 Afterwards, I came to the regions of Syria and Cilicia, 22 but I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. 23 And they had only heard the report:* “The one who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith which he once was working to destroy.” 24 And they were glorifying God because of me.
