A Song of degrees.
O Lord, remember David and all his afflictions,
How he swore to the Lord; and he vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob: #Gen. 49:24; Psa. 65:1
“Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
I will not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids, #Prov. 6:4
Until I find out a place for the Lord, a habitation for the Mighty One of Jacob.” #Acts 7:46
Lo, we heard of it at Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of the woods. #1 Sam. 7:1, 17:12; 1 Chr. 13:5
Let us go unto His tabernacle; let us worship at His footstool. #Psa. 5:7, 99:5
Arise, O Lord, into Your rest; You and the ark of Your strength. #Num. 10:35; Psa. 78:61; 2 Chr. 6:41
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy. #Isa. 61:10; Job 29:14
For Your servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of Your anointed.
The Lord has sworn to David in truth; He will not turn from it: “Of the fruit of your body will I set upon the throne for you. #2 Sam. 7:12; 1 Ki. 8:25; Psa. 89:3-4
If your children keep My covenant and My testimonies which I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit upon your throne forever.”
The Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation: #Pas. 48:1-2
“This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. #Psa. 68:16
I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. #Psa. 147:14
I also will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. #Hos. 11:12; 2 Chr. 6:41
There I will make the horn of David to bud; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed. #1 Ki. 11:36; Ezek. 29:21; Luke 1:69
I will clothe his enemies with shame; upon himself shall his crown shine.” #Psa. 35:26, 109:29
