I Thessalonians 5

5
CHAPTER FIVE
1Now then, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, there is no need that I write to you; #Mat. 24:3; 1 Thes. 4:9
2For you yourselves understand perfectly that the day of the Lord will come exactly as a thief comes by night. #2 Pet. 3:10
3For when they say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as travail comes upon a woman who is with child; and they shall by no means escape. #Isa. 13:6-9; Hos. 13:13
4But you, brethren, are not in darkness that the day of the Lord should overtake you as a thief. #Rom. 13:12
5 For you are all children of the light and children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of the darkness. #Eph. 5:8
6So then, we should not sleep, as others do; but we should watch, and we should be sober. #Mat. 25:5; 1 Pet. 5:8
7For those who are sleeping sleep in the night, and those who are drunken get drunk in the night. #Luke 21:34; Acts 2:15
8But we who are of the day should be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmetthe hope of salvation, #Eph. 6:14
9Because God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, #Rom. 9:22; 2 Thes. 2:13
10Who died for us, so that whether we remain alive until He comes or we fall asleep before that day, together we may live forever with Him. #2 Cor. 5:15
11Therefore, encourage one another, and edify one another, even as you are already doing. #1 Thes. 4:18
12Now we beseech you, brethren, to acknowledge those who are laboring among you, and are overseeing you, and are instructing you in the Lord, #1 Cor. 16:18
13And to greatly respect them in love for the sake of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. #Mark 9:50
14Now we encourage you, brethren, to admonish those who are irresponsible, console the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward everyone. #Rom. 14:1; Gal. 5:22; 2 Thes. 3:11; Heb. 12:12
15See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone; but always be pursuing what is good, both toward one another and toward all men. #Lev. 19:18; Gal. 6:10
16Rejoice always! #2 Cor. 6:10
17Pray unceasingly. #Eph. 6:18
18Give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit. #Eph. 4:30
20Despise not prophecies. #1 Cor. 14:1
21Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good. #1 John 4:1; Phil. 4:8
22Abstain from every form of wickedness. #1 Thes. 4:12
23Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; and may your entire spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. #1 Cor. 1:8; Phil. 4:9; 1 Thes. 3:13
24Faithful is He Who calls you, Who will also perform it. #1 Cor. 1:9
25Brethren, pray for us. #Col. 4:3
26Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. #Rom. 16:16
27I adjure youby the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. #Col. 4:16
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. #Rom. 16:20
