CHAPTER FIVE
1 The elders who are among you I exhort, even as a fellow elder, and an eyewitness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker of the glory that is about to be revealed: #Luke 24:48; Acts 1:8 Philem. 9; Rev. 1:9
2Feed the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight not by compulsion, but willingly; not in fondness of dishonest gain, but with an eager attitude; #Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 9:17; 1 Tim. 3:3
3Not as exercising lordship over your possessions; but by being examples to the flock of God. #Psa. 33:12; Ezek. 34:4; Phil. 3:17
4And when the Chief Shepherd is manifested, you shall receive an unfading, eternal crown of glory. #2 Tim. 4:8; Heb. 13:20
5In the same manner, you younger men be subject to the older men; and all of you be subject to one another, being clothed with humility because God sets Himself against the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. #Isa. 57:15; Jas. 4:6; Rom. 12:10
6Be humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God so that He may exalt you in due time; #Jas. 4:10
7Casting all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you. #Psa. 37:5; Heb. 13:5
8Be sober! Be vigilant! For your adversary the devil is prowling about as a roaring lion, seeking anyone he may devour. #Job 1:7; Luke 21:34
9Whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are being fulfilled among your brethren who are in the world. #Acts 14:22; Eph. 6:11
10Now may the God of all grace, Who has called us unto His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, Himself perfect you, establish, strengthen, and settle you. #1 Cor. 1:9; 2 Cor. 4:17; 2 Thes. 2:17; Heb. 13:21
11To Him be the glory and the power into the ages of eternity. Amen. #Rev. 1:6
12By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I reckon, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. #Acts 20:24; 2 Cor. 1:19; Heb. 13:22
13The church in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you, as does Mark, my son. #Acts 12:12
14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ Jesus. Amen. #Rom. 16:16; Eph. 6:23
