Hebrews 1
1
God Revealed through the Son
1In various ways and at many times in the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets, 2but in these last days, ʜᴇ has spoken to us by ʜɪꜱ Son, whom ʜᴇ appointed heir of all things, and through whom ʜᴇ also made the universe. 3Hɪꜱ Son is the radiance of ʜɪꜱ glory, the exact representation of ʜɪꜱ essence, and upholding all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is superior to theirs.
The Son Is Superior to Angels
5For to which of the angels did ʜᴇ say at any time,
“You are my Son.
Today I have begotten you”#Psalm 2:7?
and again,
“I will be to him a Father,
and he will be a Son to me”#2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chronicles 17:13?
6Again, when ʜᴇ brings the firstborn into the world, ʜᴇ says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.”#Deuteronomy 32:43 7And ʜᴇ says of the angels,
“Hᴇ makes ʜɪꜱ angels spirits,
and his servants a flame of fire.”#Psalm 104:4
8But of the Son ʜᴇ says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your empire.
9You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”#Psalm 45:6-7
10And,
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth.
The heavens are the works of your hands.
11They will perish, but you remain.
They all will grow old like a garment.
12You will roll them up like a robe,
and they will be changed;
but you are the same.
Your years won’t come to an end.”#Psalm 102:25-27
13But to which of the angels has ʜᴇ ever said,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?”#Psalm 110:1
14Aren’t they all spirits of deacon-work, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
