Psalm 85
Turn Us Back, O God
For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.
1O Yahweh, You showed favor to Your land;
You #85:1 Or restore the captivityreturned the fortunes of Jacob.
2You forgave the iniquity of Your people;
You covered all their sin. #85:2 Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical InterludeSelah.
3You withdrew all Your fury;
You turned back from Your burning anger.
4¶Turn us back, O God of our salvation,
And cause Your vexation toward us to cease.
5Will You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger from generation to generation?
6Will You not Yourself return to #85:6 Or bring us to liferevive us,
That Your people may be glad in You?
7Show us, O Yahweh, Your lovingkindness,
And give us Your salvation.
8¶Let me hear what the God, Yahweh, will speak;
For He will speak peace to His people, #85:8 Lit even toto His holy ones;
But let them not turn back to #85:8 Or stupidityfolly.
9Surely His salvation is near to those who #85:9 Or reverencefear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land.
10Lovingkindness and #85:10 Or faithfulnesstruth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 # 85:11 Or Faithfulness Truth springs up from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12Indeed, Yahweh will give what is good,
And our land will yield its produce.
13Righteousness will go before Him
And will establish the way of His steps.
