Psalm 47
God Is King of All the Earth
For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.
1O clap your hands, all peoples;
Make a loud shout to God with the sound of a shout of #47:1 Or a ringing cryjoy.
2For Yahweh Most High is #47:2 Or awesomefearsome,
A great King over all the earth.
3He subdues peoples under us
And nations under our feet.
4He chooses our inheritance for us,
The pride of Jacob whom He loves. #47:4 Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical InterludeSelah.
5¶God has ascended #47:5 Or amidwith a loud shout,
Yahweh, #47:5 Or amidwith the sound of a trumpet.
6Sing praises to God, sing praises;
Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with a #47:7 Heb Maskil; possibly Contemplative, Didactic, Skillful Psalmskillful psalm.
8God reigns over the nations,
God #47:8 Or has taken His seatsits on His holy throne.
9The nobles of the peoples have assembled themselves with the people of the God of Abraham,
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He #47:9 Lit has greatly exalted Himselfis highly exalted.
