Psalm 20
We Will Boast in the Name of Yahweh
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
1May Yahweh answer you in the day of distress!
May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!
2May He send you help from the sanctuary
And uphold you from Zion!
3May He remember all your meal offerings
And find your burnt offering #20:3 Lit fatacceptable! #20:3 Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical InterludeSelah.
4¶May He grant you your heart’s desire
And fulfill all your #20:4 Or purposecounsel!
5 # 20:5 Or Let us sing We will sing for joy over your salvation,
And in the name of our God we will set up our banners.
May Yahweh fulfill all your petitions.
6¶Now I know that Yahweh saves His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
With the #20:6 Or mighty deeds of the victory of His right handsaving might of His right hand.
7Some boast in chariots and some in horses,
But we will #20:7 Or make mention of, praiseboast in the name of Yahweh, our God.
8They have bowed down and fallen,
But we have risen and stood upright.
9 # 20:9 Or Yahweh, save the king; answer us Save, O Yahweh;
May the King answer us in the day we call.
