Hosea Marries Again
1Then Yahweh said to me, “Go again, love a #3:1 Gomerwoman who is loved by her companion and is an adulteress, even as Yahweh loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.” 2So I bargained for her for myself for fifteen #3:2 A shekel was approx. 0.4 oz. or 11 gmshekels of silver and a #3:2 A homer was approx. 6.5 bu. or 230 lhomer and a #3:2 Heb lethechhalf of barley. 3Then I said to her, “You shall stay with me for many days. You shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a #3:3 Or husbandman; so I will also be toward you.” 4For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or #3:4 Heb teraphimhousehold idols. 5Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek Yahweh their God and David their king; and they will come #3:5 Or trembling, cf. Is 19:16; Hos 11:10-11in dread to Yahweh and to His goodness in the last days.
