Psalms 23
23
THE TWENTY‐THIRD PSAUM.
Dauvid is aye unreelin a pirn about Christ. Here he pents him as a Shepherd, and his sel as a silly bit lammie. It evens weel wiʼ the tenth oʼ John.
1The Lord is my Shepherd; my wants are aʼ kent; 2the pasture I lie in is growthie and green.
I follow by the lip oʼ the watirs oʼ Peace.
3He heals and sterklie hauds my saul: and airts me, for his ain nameʼs sake, in aʼ the fit‐roads oʼ his holiness.
4Aye, and though I bude gang throwe the howe whaur the deid‐shadows faʼ, Iʼse fear nae skaith nor ill, for that yersel is aye aside me; yere rod and yere cruik they defend me.
5My table ye hae plenishʼt afore the een oʼ my faes; my heid ye hae chrystit wiʼ oyle; my cup is teemin fuʼ!
6And certes, tenderness and mercie sal be my faʼ to the end oʼ my days; and syne Iʼse bide iʼ the hoose oʼ the Lord, for evir and evir mair!
