Shir haShirim (Song of Songs) 1
1
1The song of songs, which is Shelomoh’s.
2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth, For your carnal-love are better than wine.
3For fragrance your oils are good. Your name is oil poured forth,#See Eccl. 7:1 Therefore the young women#See Explanatory Notes "Maiden" love you.
4Draw me! We run after you. The sovereign has brought me into his inner rooms. We exult and rejoice in you. We praise your carnal-love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.
5I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Yerushalayim, Like the tents of Qĕḏar, Like the curtains of Shelomoh.
6Do not look upon me, because I am dark, Because the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were displeased with me. They made me the keeper of the vineyards, My own vineyard I have not kept.
7Make known to me, O you whom my being loves, Where you feed your flock, Where you make it rest at noon. For why should I be as one who is veiled Beside the flocks of your companions?
8If you do not know, O beautiful among women, Go in the footsteps of the flock, And feed your little goats beside the shepherds’ dwellings.
9I have compared you, my love, To my filly among Pharaoh’s chariots.
10Your cheeks are pretty with ornaments, Your neck with strings of beads.
11Let us make you ornaments of gold with studs of silver.
12While the sovereign is at his table, My nard shall give its fragrance.
13My beloved is a bundle of myrrh to me, Lying between my breasts.
14My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blooms In the vineyards of Ěn Geḏi.
15See, you are beautiful, my love! See, you are beautiful! Your eyes are as doves.
16See, you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant! Also our bed is green.
17The beams of our houses are cedar, our rafters are of fir.

Song of Solomon 1

Song of Solomon 1
1¶The song of songs, which is of Solomon.
2¶ Oh! if he would kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! for thy love is better than wine.
3Because of the savour of thy good ointments (ointment poured forth is thy name), therefore have the virgins loved thee.
4Draw me after thee, we will run. The king has brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in thee; we will remember thy love more than the wine; the upright love thee.
5I am dark, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, more desirable as the booths of Kedar, as the tents of Solomon.
6Do not look upon me because I am dark because the sun has looked upon me; my mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but I have not kept my own vineyard.
7¶ Tell me, O thou whom my soul loves, where thou dost feed, where thou dost make thy flock to rest at noon; for why did I have to be as a wanderer after the flocks of thy companions?
8If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go forth, following the footprints of the flock and feed thy little female goats beside the booths of the shepherds.
9I have compared thee, O my love, to a mare of the chariots of Pharaoh.
10Thy cheeks are beautiful between the earrings, thy neck between the necklaces.
11We will make thee earrings of gold with studs of silver.
12¶ While the king was on his couch, my spikenard gave forth its fragrance.
13A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me that rests between my breasts.
14My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire {Heb. ransom} in the vineyards of Engedi.
15Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.
16Behold, thou art fair, O my beloved, and pleasant; also our bed has flowers.
17The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.
