About the Book of Revelation
Revelation is the last book in the Bible. It includes many ideas that we find in other books in the Bible. It tells us about future events from John's time, until now, and until the end of this world.
Jesus' apostle, John, wrote the book for Christians. At that time, things were very difficult for Christians. The Roman ruler, Caesar, was causing a lot of trouble for them. #1:0 Caesar was the most important Roman ruler. He lived in Rome. Rome was an important city in the world at the time of Jesus. It was a powerful city and it had a strong army. The Romans ruled many other countries and they made the people obey the laws of Rome. They made them pay taxes to Rome. John was a prisoner because he was a Christian.
Jesus appeared to John in a special dream. He also sent an angel to John. The angel showed John many future events that surprised him. Jesus told John to write down what he saw. Jesus wants us to know about things that will happen during the last days of the earth. He wants us to be ready.
‘Revelation’ means ‘to show things that people could not see before’. Many of the events in this book are like pictures. They show us an idea of what will really happen. Jesus wants us to think about these pictures. He wants us to understand as much as we can.
One day, Jesus will return to this earth. He will finally win against all his enemies. He will put right everything that is wrong. And all those who love him will live with him always. Nothing will ever hurt them or make them sad again. Revelation tells us to remember this. It teaches us to wait patiently.
