Now Lord YAHWEH arranged for a gourd plant to grow up over Jonah to provide him shade to rest in and to soothe his sour demeanor. Jonah was thrilled with the plant. But at dawn the next day, God sent a worm to chew through the plant—and it withered. As the sun rose into the sky, God sent a scorching east wind. The wind and blazing sun beat down so hard on Jonah’s head that he was starting to faint. So he begged God to end his life, saying, “I’m better off dead than alive.” God said to Jonah, “Are you right to be so angry about the plant that gave you shade?” He replied, “I have every right to be angry, angry enough to die!”

Do you wonder if God has anything to say about your work? Explore key verses from each chapter of the Bible that offer wisdom, guidance, and purpose for everyday work. Part 8: Jonah-Habakkuk
In this 4-part devotional, Pastor Dylan Dodson teaches through the book of Jonah. This plan will help you see God’s faithfulness, and that no one is beyond His grace and mercy.
Jonah’s story reminds us that God’s compassion extends to both the prideful prophet and the wicked unbeliever. Despite all of Jonah’s resistance and hard-heartedness, God’s merciful message of repentance was still delivered to the Ninevites. The Ninevites' repentance shows us nothing can thwart God's plans of redemption.
How can the fruit of the spirit win the battle against the sins of my flesh? This four-day reading plan shows the battles of JOY versus jealousy, greed, self-pity, and ungratefulness. Kristi Krauss uses the fruit of the spirit found in Galatians 5 as a guide to spur us into action to become champions of JOY in our daily lives.
