The Priestly King
A psalm of David.
1This is the declaration of the Lord
to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies your footstool.”#Mt 22:44; Mk 12:36; Lk 20:42–43; Ac 2:34–35; 1Co 15:25; Heb 1:13
2The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion.

3Your people will volunteer

4The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back:
“You are a priest forever
according to the pattern of Melchizedek.”#Gn 14:18; Heb 5:6,10; 7:17,21
5The Lord is at your right hand;
he will crush kings on the day of his anger.#Ps 16:8; 68:14
6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses;#Is 66:24; Rv 19:17–18
he will crush leaders over the entire world.#Ps 68:21
7He will drink from the brook by the road;#Jdg 7:5–6
therefore, he will lift up his head.#Ps 27:6
