3Therefore, Israel will be abandoned # 5:3 Hs 11:8; Mc 4:10; 7:13 until the time

The Glorious and Purified Remnant
7Then the remnant of Jacob # 5:7 Is 10:21; Mc 2:12; 4:7; 7:18
will be among many peoples
like dew from the Lord, # 5:7 Dt 32:2; 2Sm 17:12; Ps 110:3; Hs 14:5
like showers on the grass, # 5:7 Ps 72:6; Is 44:3
which do not wait for anyone
or linger for mankind.
8Then the remnant of Jacob
will be among the nations, among many peoples,
like a lion among animals of the forest, # 5:8 Gn 49:9; Nm 24:9
like a young lion among flocks of sheep,
which tramples # 5:8 Ps 44:5; Is 41:15–16; Mc 4:13; Zch 10:5 and tears # 5:8 Hs 5:14 as it passes through,
and there is no one to rescue them. # 5:8 Ps 50:22
9Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, # 5:9 Ps 10:12; 21:8; Is 26:11
and all your enemies will be destroyed.
10In that day —
this is the Lord’s declaration —
I will remove your horses from you # 5:10 Dt 17:16; Is 2:7; Hs 14:3
and wreck your chariots.
11I will remove the cities of your land # 5:11 Is 1:7; 6:11
and tear down all your fortresses. # 5:11 Is 2:12–17; Hs 10:14; Am 5:9
12I will remove sorceries from your hands, # 5:12 Dt 18:10–12; Is 2:6; 8:19

and sacred pillars from you
so that you will no longer worship
the work of your hands.
14I will pull up the Asherah poles # 5:14 Dt 16:21 from among you # 5:14 Ex 34:13; Is 27:9
and demolish your cities. # 5:14 Or shrines
15I will take vengeance in anger and wrath # 5:15 Is 1:24; 65:12
against the nations that have not obeyed me.

1 But thou, Beit-Lechem Ephratah,
though thou be little among the Alphei Yehudah (Thousands of Yehudah),
yet out of thee shall He#5:1a Moshiach come forth unto Me#5:1b Hashem
that is to be Moshel Yisroel;
whose goings forth#5:1c (i.e. origins) have been mikedem (from everlasting),#5:1d See Hab 1:12
mimei olam (from the days of eternity).
2 Therefore will He give them up,
until the Et Yoledah (time when she who is in labor) hath brought forth;
then the rest of His#5:2 Moshiachʼs Brethren
shall return unto Bnei Yisroel.
3 And He#5:3a Moshiach shall stand and shall shepherd in the strength of Hashem,
in the majesty of the Shem of Hashem Elohav,
and they#5:3b Bnei Yisroel shall live;
for then shall He#5:3c Moshiach be great unto the ends of ha'aretz.
4 And this shall be Shalom.
When the Assyrian shall invade our land;
and when he shall set foot on our armenot (citadels),
then shall we raise against him shivah ro'im (seven shepherds),
and shmoneh nesikhei adam (eight leaders [tribal princes] of men).
5 And they shall shepherd Eretz Ashur (Assyria) with the cherev,
and Eretz Nimrod at its gates;
thus shall He#5:5 Moshiach deliver us from the Assyrian,
when he cometh into our land,
and when he sets foot within our borders.
6 And the She'erit Ya'akov shall be in the midst of many people
like tal (dew) from Hashem, like the showers upon the grass,
that doth not await manʼs bidding,
nor tarry for the bnei adam.
7 And the She'erit Ya'akov shall be among the Goyim
in the midst of many people
like an aryeh among the beasts of the forest,
like a young lion among the edrei tzon (flocks of sheep);
who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces,
and none can deliver.
8 Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries,
and kol oyvecha (all thine enemies) shall be cut off.
9 And it shall come to pass in Yom HaHu, saith Hashem,
that I will cut off thy susim out of the midst of thee,
and I will destroy thy merkavot (chariots);
10And I will cut off the cities of thy land,
and throw down all thy mivtzarim (fortresses);
11And I will cut off keshafim (witchcrafts) out of thine hand; n tsvishen dir,
un vest zich mer nisht b
and thou shalt have no more sorcerers;
12 Thy graven images also will I cut off,
and thy sacred pillars out of the midst of thee;
and lo tishtachaveh (thou shalt no more bow down to, worship) the work of thine hands.
13 And I will pluck up thy Asherim#5:13 i.e., sacred poles of the Asherah cult of Canaan out of the midst of thee;
so will I destroy thy cities.
14 And I will execute vengeance
in anger and fury
upon the Goyim that were without mishma'at (obedience).
