Ezekiel 2

2
Mission to Rebellious Israel
1He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet  # 2:1 Dn 10:11 and I will speak with you.” 2As he spoke to me, the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet,  # 2:2 Ezk 3:24; Dn 8:18 and I listened to the one who was speaking to me. 3He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to  # 2:3 Or Israelites and to the rebellious pagans who have rebelled against me. The Israelites and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this day.  # 2:3 Ezk 20:18,30 4The descendants are obstinate  # 2:4 Lit hard of face and hardhearted.  # 2:4 Ezk 3:7 I am sending you to them, and you must say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says.’ 5Whether they listen or refuse to listen  # 2:5 Ezk 3:11,27  #— #for they are a rebellious house #— #they will know that a prophet has been among them.  # 2:5 Ezk 33:33
6“But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them and do not be afraid of their words,  # 2:6 Jr 1:8,17; Ezk 3:9 even though briers and thorns are beside you and you live among scorpions.  # 2:6 2Sm 23:6; Ezk 28:24; Mc 7:4 Don’t be afraid of their words or discouraged by the look on their faces, for they are a rebellious house. 7Speak my words to them whether they listen or refuse to listen,  # 2:7 Jr 1:7,17 for they are rebellious.
8“And you, son of man, listen to what I tell you: Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.”  # 2:8 Jr 15:16; Ezk 3:3; Rv 10:9 9So I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me,  # 2:9 Ezk 8:3 and there was a written scroll in it.  # 2:9 Jr 36:2; Ezk 3:1 10When he unrolled it before me, it was written on the front and back; words of lamentation, mourning, and woe were written on it.
