Paul’s Ministry to the Gentiles
1For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner # 3:1 2Tm 1:8 of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles — 2assuming you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that he gave me for you. 3The mystery was made known to me by revelation, # 3:3 1Pt 4:13 as I have briefly written above. 4By reading this you are able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ. # 3:4 Col 4:3 5This was not made known to people # 3:5 Lit to the sons of men in other generations as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets # 3:5 1Co 12:28–29; Eph 2:20 by the Spirit: 6The Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and partners in the promise # 3:6 Gn 12:7 in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 7I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the working of his power. # 3:7 Mk 5:30; Lk 1:35; 6:19; Ac 19:11; 2Co 13:4; Rv 11:17
8This grace was given to me — the least of all the saints — to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches # 3:8 Rm 1:15; 10:12; 11:12; 1Pt 1:12 of Christ, 9and to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created # 3:9 Mk 13:19 all things. 10This is so that God’s multi-faceted wisdom # 3:10 Pr 3:19; Rm 11:33; 1Co 1:21,24; Rv 7:12 may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens. # 3:10 Eph 1:3,20; 2:6; 6:12; Php 2:10 11This is according to his eternal purpose # 3:11 Pr 19:21 accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12In him we have boldness and confident access # 3:12 Rm 5:2 through faith in him. # 3:12 Or through his faithfulness 13So, then, I ask you not to be discouraged # 3:13 2Th 3:13 over my afflictions on your behalf, for they are your glory. # 3:13 Jn 5:44; 7:18; Rm 2:7; 1Pt 5:4
Prayer for Spiritual Power
14For this reason I kneel # 3:14 Php 2:10 before the Father # 3:14 Other mss add of our Lord Jesus Christ 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. 16I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches # 3:16 Lk 8:14; 2Co 8:9 of his glory, # 3:16 Lk 9:32; Jn 17:24; 2Co 3:18; 2Pt 3:18 to be strengthened with power # 3:16 2Tm 1:7 in your inner being # 3:16 Rm 7:22; Php 4:13 through his Spirit, 17and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, # 3:18 Jb 11:7–9; Ps 103:11–14 19and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20Now to him who is able # 3:20 Rm 16:25; 2Co 9:8; Jd 24 to do above and beyond all that we ask or think # 3:20 Mk 14:36 according to the power # 3:20 Rm 15:13; 16:25; 2Tm 1:7; Jd 24 that works in us — 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. 1For this cause, I, Sha'ul, the prisoner of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua for you Nations, 2If indeed you heard of the pekudat Hashem of the Chen v'Chesed Hashem having been given to me for you, 3That according to hisgalus (revelation) there was made known to me the sod of the raz, as I wrote before in brief, 4As to which you are able by reading to have binah of my haara (insight) into the Sod HaMoshiach (the Secret of Moshiach), 5Of which in other dorot (generations) was not made known to the Bnei Adam as it has now been made hisgalus (revelation) to Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiachʼs Shlichim and Nevi'im HaKedoshim in the Ruach Hakodesh, 6Namely, that the Nations are fellow bnei HaYerushshah (heirs) of the nachalah (allotted inheritance)#3:6 Ps 16:5-6 and joint evarim of HaGuf HaMoshiach#3:6 Gn 47:18; Ps 16:9-10; Job 19:25-27; Isa 53:11 and joint partakers of the havtachah (promise) in Moshiach Yehoshua (Yeshua) through the Besuras HaGeulah,#3:6 Ezek 47:22
7Of which I became a keli kodesh (minister) according to the matnat Hashem of the Chen v'Chesed of G-d having been bestowed upon me, according to the working of His gevurah (power). 8To me, the less than the least of all Kedoshim, was given this Chen v'Chesed Hashem, to preach to the Nations the unsearchable osher (riches) of Moshiach, 9And to shed light on what is the pekudat Hashem of the Sod that was meOlam nistar (hidden) in Hashem, who created all things, 10In order that the many faceted Chochmat Hashem might be made known now to the rulers and the authorities in Shomayim through the Moshiachʼs Brit Chadasha Kehillah. 11This was in accordance with the tochnit Hashem (purposeful and willed plan of G-d) for the Olamim (Ages), which He implemented in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua Adoneinu, 12In whom we have boldness and HaSha'ar laHashem (gate to approach G-dʼs presence),#3:12 access of the tzaddikim Ps 118:20 in bitachon through emunah in Him. 13Therefore, I ask you not to lose chozek concerning my tzoros on your behalf, which is for your kavod.
14For this cause I fall down before Elokim HaAv, 15From whom every mishpochah in Shomayim and on Ha'Aretz is named, 16That Hashem may grant you according to the osher of His kavod to become mightily empowered through His Ruach Hakodesh in the adam hapenimi (inner man);#3:16 Ro 7:22 17So that Moshiach may make His maon (dwelling place, permanent residence, home) in your levavot through emunah, being rooted and grounded in ahavah, 18That you may be able to have binah, together with all the Kedoshim, what is the breadth and length and height and depth,#3:18 Job 11:8,9; Ps 103:11 19And to have da'as of the ahavah of Moshiach, which ahavah surpasses da'as, in order that you may be filled to all the melo (plentitude) of Hashem.
20Now to the One who is able to do exceedingly abundantly, beyond all that we ask or think, according to the ko'ach working in us.#3:20 1Kgs 3:13 21To Him be kavod in the Brit Chadasha Kehillah and in Moshiach Yehoshua, bekhol hadorot l'Olam va'ed. Omein.
