From Death to Life
1And you were dead # 2:1 Jn 5:25 in your trespasses and sins 2in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, # 2:2 2Pt 2:20 according to the ruler of the power of the air, # 2:2 2Pt 2:10; Jd 8 the spirit # 2:2 1Co 2:12; 1Tm 4:1 now working in the disobedient. # 2:2 Lit sons of disobedience 3We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly # 2:3 Php 3:3 desires, carrying out the inclinations # 2:3 Mt 21:31; Lk 12:47; 23:25; Jn 1:13; 1Co 7:37; 2Pt 1:21 of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath # 2:3 Rm 2:5; Rv 6:16 as the others were also. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, # 2:4 Lk 1:50 because of his great love # 2:4 1Co 13:1; 1Jn 4:16 that he had for us, # 2:4 Lit love with which he loved us 5made us alive # 2:5 Col 2:13; 1Tm 5:6 with Christ even though we were dead # 2:5 Jn 5:25 in trespasses. You are saved by grace! 6He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, # 2:6 Eph 1:3,20; 3:10; 6:12; Php 2:10; 1Pt 3:22 7so that in the coming ages # 2:7 Mk 10:30 he might display the immeasurable riches # 2:7 Lk 8:14; 2Co 8:9 of his grace through his kindness # 2:7 Ps 25:6 to us in Christ Jesus. 8For you are saved by grace # 2:8 Rm 3:24; 6:14; 11:6; Gl 2:21; 2Tm 1:9 through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — 9not from works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created # 2:10 Jn 1:3; Rv 3:14 in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time # 2:10 Rm 9:23 for us to do.
Unity in Christ
11So, then, remember that at one time you were Gentiles in the flesh — called “the uncircumcised” by those called “the circumcised,” # 2:11 Gl 6:15 which is done in the flesh by human hands. # 2:11 Php 3:3 12At that time you were without Christ, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of promise, # 2:12 Gn 12:7 without hope # 2:12 1Th 1:3; 4:13 and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood # 2:13 Heb 9:12 of Christ. 14For he is our peace, who made both groups one # 2:14 Rm 10:12; Gl 3:28 and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, 15he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create # 2:15 Rv 3:14 in himself one # 2:15 Jn 11:52 new man from the two, resulting in peace. 16He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body # 2:16 Eph 4:4 through the cross by which he put the hostility to death. # 2:16 Or death in himself 17He came and proclaimed the good news # 2:17 Lk 4:18; 1Pt 1:12 of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. # 2:17 Is 57:19 18For through him we both have access # 2:18 Jn 10:7–9; Rm 5:2; Eph 3:12 in one Spirit to the Father. # 2:18 Jn 4:23; 1Co 12:13; Eph 4:4; Col 1:12 19So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, # 2:20 1Co 12:28; Eph 3:5 with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. 21In him the whole building, being put together, # 2:21 Eph 4:16 grows into a holy temple in the Lord. # 2:21 1Pt 2:5 22In him you are also being built together # 2:22 Rm 11:18 for God’s dwelling # 2:22 1Pt 2:5 in the Spirit.

Ephesians 2
2
1 # 2:1 T.N. In chapter 2 Rav Sha'ul uses the courts of the Beis Hamikdash to teach the saving work of Moshiach. And you being dead in your peysha'im and chatta'im, 2In which you amol (formerly) fier zich (comported oneself), according to the course of the Olam Hazeh, according to the Sar Memshelet HaAvir (Prince of Power of Air),#2:2 the Satan, HaSatan, teivel, the devil the ruach now working in the bnei haMeri (sons of Rebellion). 3Among them we too all formerly conducted ourselves in the ta'avot of our basar, following the lusts of the flesh and of the machshavot (thoughts), and we were by nature Bnei Za'am (Sons of Wrath) of Hashem, as also the rest. 4But Hashem, being rich in rachamim (mercy), because of His ahavah harabba (great love) with which He loved us, 5Even when we were dead in our peysha'im, He made us alive together with Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach — by the unmerited Chen v'Chesed Hashem you have been delivered in your personal Geulah and the Yeshu'as Elokeinu#2:5 Ps 103:12 — 6And raised us up with Moshiach and seated us with Him in Shomayim in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua/Yeshua, 7In order that, in the Olam HaBah, He might display the surpassing osher of the Chen v'Chesed Hashem of Him in chesed toward us in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua/Yeshua. 8For by unmerited Chen v'Chesed Hashem you have been delivered from Hashemʼs Mishpat (Judgment) and granted a share in the Geulah (Redemption), through emunah; and this is not#2:8 an einfal (intuitive idea) of yourselves, it is a matnat Hashem (gift of G-d); 9Not the result#2:9 of the zokheh (merit) of doing Gezetz ma'asim,#2:9 Ac 15:1; Ga 5:3 4 so that before Hashem no man should be a ravrevan (boaster, braggart).#2:9 Dt 9:5 10For we are His masterpiece, having been created in Moshiach Yehoshua for ma'asim tovim, which Hashem prepared beforehand, that the derech of our halakhah should be in them.#2:10 Isa 29:23; 42:7; 60:21;
11Therefore, have zikaron (remembrance) that formerly you, the non-Jews in the flesh, who are called “arelim” (uncircumcised ones) by the ones being called “nimolim” (circumcised ones) which is a Milah performed in the flesh by human hands, 12Have zikaron (remembrance) that you were at that time bazunder (unrelated and separate) from Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, having been alienated from the torat haEzrakhut (the citizenship) in the Am Brit, from Yisroel, being zarim (strangers) to the Beritot HaHavtacha, farloiren (lost) and having no tikvah (hope) and without G-d in the Olam Hazeh.#2:12 Isa 14:1; 65:1 13But now in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua, you, who formerly where in the outermost courts, have been brought near by the kapporah of the dahm of Moshiach. 14For Moshiach himself is our shalom, who made the Shnayim into Echad, having broken down in the basar of Moshiach the barrier of the Mechitzah (the dividing partition), the Soreg (barrier),#2:14 of the holy precinct in the Beis HaMikdash between Jews and non-Jews the Eyvah (Enmity), 15By annulling the chok (decree, law) of mishpatim in ordinances that the Shnayim He might create in Himself into Adam Chadash Echad (One New Regenerated Humanity), arbitrating shalom, 16And that Moshiach might bring the ritztzuy (reconciliation, cessation of enmity), reconciling to Hashem the Shnayim into one guf (body)#2:16 Gn 47:18; Ps 16:9-10; Job 19:25-27; Isa 53:11 through the Moshiachʼs Etz, having put to death the Eyvah by it. 17And having come, Moshiach preached shalom to you, the ones in the outermost courts, and shalom to the ones near;#2:17 Ps 148:14; Isa 57:19 18Because through Moshiach we both have HaSha'ar laHashem#2:18 Ps 118:20 (gate to approach G-dʼs presence, access of the tzaddikim) by one Ruach Hakodesh to Elokim HaAv. 19Therefore, then, no longer are you zarim and aliens, but you are fellow citizens of the Kedoshim and bnei bayit members of the household of G-d, 20Having been built upon the yesod (foundation) of the Shlichim and Nevi'im, Moshiach Yehoshua himself being the ROSH PINAH,#2:20 Ps 118:22 21In whom all the binyan (edifice), being fitly joined together, grows into a Heikhal Kadosh b'Hashem; 22In whom also you are being built together into a Mishkan of Hashem in the Ruach Hakodesh.
