1Working together with him, we also appeal to you, “Don’t receive the grace of God in vain.” 2For he says:

At an acceptable time I listened to you,

The Character of Paul’s Ministry

3We are not giving anyone an occasion for offense, so that the ministry will not be blamed. 4Instead, as God’s ministers, we commend ourselves in everything: by great endurance, by afflictions, by hardships, by difficulties, 5by beatings, by imprisonments, # 6:5 Jdg 16:21 by riots, by labors, by sleepless nights, by times of hunger, 6by purity, # 6:6 2Co 11:3 by knowledge, # 6:6 Php 3:8; 1Jn 4:8 by patience, # 6:6 Ex 34:6; 2Tm 3:10 by kindness, # 6:6 Rm 2:4; 3:12; 11:22; Gl 5:22; Eph 2:7; Col 3:12; Ti 3:4 by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, # 6:6 1Co 13:1 7by the word of truth, # 6:7 Or by truthful speech,# 6:7 2Th 2:10 by the power of God; # 6:7 Mk 5:30; Lk 1:35; 6:19; Ac 19:11; 2Co 13:4; Rv 11:17 through weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, 8through glory # 6:8 1Pt 5:4 and dishonor, through slander and good report; regarded as deceivers, yet true; 9as unknown, yet recognized; as dying, yet see — we live; as being disciplined, yet not killed; 10as grieving, yet always rejoicing; # 6:10 Mt 5:4; Jn 16:22; 2Co 7:4; Php 1:4,25; 2:17–18; 3:1; 4:1,4; Col 1:24; 1Th 1:6; 1Pt 1:6–8 as poor, yet enriching many; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. 11We have spoken openly to you, Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide. 12We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. 13I speak as to my children; as a proper response, open your heart to us.

Separation to God

14Do not be yoked together with those who do not believe. 17Therefore, come out from among them

and be separate, says the Lord;

do not touch any unclean thing,

In this chapter Rav Sha'ul warns against associations or worldly influences or fascinations that will contaminate the believer, who should not think he can have both the worldʼs evil pleasures and the House of G-dʼs holy chelek. As we work together with him, we also urge you not to receive the Chen v'Chesed Hashem in vain.#6:1 2C 5:20 2For he says, “In a time acceptable I heard you and in a day of salvation I helped you.”#6:2 Isa 49:8 Hinei, now is the acceptable time; now is the Yom Yeshu'ah,#6:2 Ps 69:13; Isa 55:6; Lk 4:19-21 3Not giving in anything a cause for michshol, lest the Messianic Avodas Kodesh (holy worship, service) be blamed; 4But in everything presenting ourselves#6:4 2C 4:2 as Klei Kodesh of Hashem in much savlanut (patience), in tzoros, in hardships, in distresses, 5In beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in tzomot; 6In purity, in da'as, in longsuffering, in chesed, in the Ruach Hakodesh, in ahavah amittit, 7In the dvar HaEmes, in the gevurat Hashem, through the weapons of Tzedek of the right hand and of the left. 8Through honor and dishonor, through ill repute and good repute; as “deceivers” and yet true, 9As being unknown and yet being well known, as dying and hinei, we live! As given the mishpat mavet and yet not penalized with death; 10As having agmat nefesh but always having simcha, as poor but enriching many, as having nothing and yet possessing everything.

11We have spoken freely with you Corinthians, our levavot has been enlarged. 12There is no penury in our affections, only in yours. 13Now — I speak as to yeladim — make a fair exchange and open wide your levavot.#6:13 1C 4:14

14Do not become unequally yoked with koferim#6:14 Ep 5:7,11 (unbelievers), for what shuttafut (partnership) has Tzedek with Lawlessness? Or where is the Brit (Covenant) between Ohr (light) and Choshech (darkness)?#6:14 Gn 24:3; Dt 22:10 15And what harmony does Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach have with B'liya'al? Or what chelek (allotment, inheritance) has a ma'amin with an Apikoros? 16And what agreement has the Heikhal of Hashem with elilim?
