Đức Chúa Trời ban phước cho Nô-ê
1Đức Chúa Trời ban phước cho Nô-ê và các con trai ông. Ngài phán với họ: “Hãy sinh sản, gia tăng gấp bội, và làm cho đầy dẫy đất.#Sáng 1:28. 2Tất cả các loài thú trên đất, các loài chim trời, các loài bò sát trên đất, và các loài cá biển, đều sẽ kinh sợ các con và bị trao vào tay các con. 3Bất cứ loài vật nào di chuyển và có sự sống đều dùng làm thức ăn cho các con. Ta ban cho các con mọi vật ấy như Ta đã ban rau cỏ xanh cho các con. 4Nhưng các con không được ăn thịt còn máu, tức là còn sự sống.#Lê 7:26-27; 17:10-14; 19:26; Phục 12:16,23; 15:23. 5Chắc chắn Ta sẽ đòi lại máu của sinh mạng các con. Ta sẽ đòi lại máu đó từ mọi loài thú vật và Ta sẽ đòi lại sinh mạng con người từ tay đồng loại nó, tức là từ tay anh em nó.
6Kẻ nào làm đổ máu người,#Xuất 20:13; Sáng 1:26.
Sẽ bị người khác làm đổ máu lại;
Vì Đức Chúa Trời tạo nên loài người
Theo hình ảnh của Ngài.
7Vậy, các con hãy sinh sản, gia tăng gấp bội, làm cho lan tràn và đầy dẫy trên đất.”#Sáng 1:28.
Đức Chúa Trời lập giao ước với loài người
8Đức Chúa Trời phán với Nô-ê và các con trai đang ở với ông rằng: 9“Nầy, Ta lập giao ước với các con và dòng dõi các con, 10và với tất cả sinh vật đang ở với các con như loài chim, gia súc, thú rừng, tức là tất cả các loài ở trong tàu ra, cũng như với mọi loài thú sống trên đất sau nầy. 11Vậy Ta lập giao ước với các con: Mọi loài xác thịt sẽ không bị nước lụt tiêu diệt nữa, và cũng không có trận lụt nào để hủy phá quả đất nữa.”
12Đức Chúa Trời phán: “Đây là dấu hiệu về giao ước đời đời mà Ta lập giữa Ta với các con, với mọi loài sinh vật đang ở với các con, trải qua các thế hệ. 13Ta đặt cầu vồng của Ta trên tầng mây để làm dấu hiệu về giao ước giữa Ta và quả đất. 14Mỗi khi Ta giăng mây trên bầu trời và cầu vồng xuất hiện trên tầng mây, 15Ta sẽ nhớ lại giao ước mà Ta đã lập với các con, cũng như với mọi sinh vật, mọi loài xác thịt, thì nước sẽ chẳng bao giờ trở thành trận lụt để hủy diệt mọi loài xác thịt nữa. 16Khi cầu vồng xuất hiện trên tầng mây, Ta nhìn xem nó để nhớ lại giao ước đời đời giữa Đức Chúa Trời và mọi sinh vật, mọi loài xác thịt trên đất.” 17Đức Chúa Trời lại phán với Nô-ê: “Đó là dấu hiệu về giao ước mà Ta đã lập giữa Ta và mọi loài xác thịt trên đất.”
Các con trai của Nô-ê
18Các con trai của Nô-ê ở trong tàu ra là Sem, Cham và Gia-phết. Cham chính là cha của Ca-na-an. 19Đó là ba con trai của Nô-ê, và từ họ mà có loài người phân bố khắp mặt đất.
Nô-ê say rượu, Ca-na-an bị nguyền rủa
20Nô-ê làm nghề nông. Ông là người đầu tiên trồng nho. 21Ông uống rượu say mèm, rồi cởi áo quần nằm giữa trại mình. 22Cham, là cha Ca-na-an, thấy sự trần truồng của cha thì ra ngoài thuật lại cho hai anh mình. 23Sem và Gia-phết lấy áo choàng, vắt trên vai, rồi đi thụt lùi đến đắp lại cho cha. Họ quay mặt đi chỗ khác nên hoàn toàn không nhìn thấy sự trần truồng của cha mình. 24Khi Nô-ê tỉnh rượu, biết được việc người con út đã làm cho mình, 25thì nói:
“Ca-na-an đáng nguyền rủa!
Nó sẽ làm nô lệ thấp hèn nhất cho anh em nó.”
26Ông còn nói:
“Chúc tạ Giê-hô-va, là Đức Chúa Trời của Sem;
Ca-na-an phải làm nô lệ cho Sem!
27Cầu xin Đức Chúa Trời mở rộng bờ cõi Gia-phết,#9:27 Gia-phết: Trong tiếng Hê-bơ-rơ, từ nầy có cách phát âm giống từ có nghĩa là “gia tăng”, “mở rộng thêm”.
Và cho nó sống trong trại của Sem;
Còn Ca-na-an phải làm nô lệ cho Gia-phết.”
28Sau trận lụt, Nô-ê còn sống được ba trăm năm mươi năm nữa. 29Nô-ê hưởng thọ chín trăm năm mươi tuổi, rồi qua đời.

God’s Covenant With Noah
1Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. 3Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
4“But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.
6“Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made mankind.
7As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”
8Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9“I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
The Sons of Noah
18The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.
20Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded#9:20 Or soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. 21When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 23But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25he said,
“Cursed be Canaan!
The lowest of slaves
will he be to his brothers.”
26He also said,
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!
May Canaan be the slave of Shem.
27May God extend Japheth’s#9:27 Japheth sounds like the Hebrew for extend. territory;
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,
and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
28After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.
